The Ohio Press Network: Sex Scandal, Trump’s Supreme Court Wins, and a Defiant Columbus Principal: You’ll Want to Hear Mark Weaver’s Legal Takes on Today’s Edition of The Windsor Report

An elite Cincinnati high school counselor pleads guilty to sexually abusing a student, a Columbus principal tells police she feels uncomfortable by their presence despite a student making a bomb threat, and the Supreme Court hands victories on federal firings and deportations to President Trump - it all collided today in one conversation.

Legal expert and former Ohio Deputy Attorney General Mark R. Weaver joined The Windsor Report today, and you can listen to the full interview here: https://www.theohiopressnetwork.com/news/ohio/listen-sex-scandal-trump-s-supreme-court-wins-and-a-defiant-columbus-principal-you-ll/article_3635a78c-a8a2-4a71-9106-5071723e0b9b.html

The conversation started with Emily Nutley, 43, once a trusted counselor at Cincinnati St. Xavier High School. She is now facing up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual battery with a 17-year-old student. Weaver, a seasoned prosecutor, peels back the layers: her power over the teen amplified the crime, and the plea deal—slashing four of six felony charges—spared the victim a courtroom ordeal. Perhaps the weight of justice was balanced against mercy for the victim.

When asked how parents can protect their children from predatory adults, Weaver shared a simple rule:  No adult should ever talk sex with your child without you knowing.

Then, Weaver weighs in on Natalie James, principal at Ridgeview Middle School, who was defiant with police officers the school called about a bomb threat. Weaver calls it reckless, a defiance that chills you to the core.

The conversation closes with Trump’s wins: the Supreme Court pausing reinstatement of fired federal workers and greenlighting deportations of suspected Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang members.
